Ingredients

  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 ½ oz sugar
  • 1 ½ oz soy sauce
  • 1 ½ oz gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red chili powder), to taste (see Tip)
  • ½ oz kombu seaweed, torn into pieces (approx. 2 in.)
  • 6 oz white radish e.g. Korean radish, or Daikon radish, peeled, cut into matchsticks (3 in. x ¼ in.)
  • 12 oz water
  • 8 oz cabbage, diced (1 in.)
  • 16 oz garaetteok (Korean rice cake), small cylindrically shaped rice sticks
  • 6 oz fish cakes, cut into planks (4 in. x 2 in.)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced, plus extra to garnish
  • 2 - 3 tsp toasted sesame seeds, to garnish (optional)
